Parent Meeting/Payment Collection Tuesday 5/19

Team,

Friendly reminder that the in-person parent meeting is this evening (5/19) from 7-8pm. This is mandatory for new families and optional for returning families. This will be held at the Villages of Dardenne clubhouse. For those families dropping off checks, two checks are needed. One for the $200 volunteer check and the other for registration payment. You may drop off checks anytime between 6:15p-8p tonight.

We will have stroke judge training from 8-9pm this evening. We NEED volunteers for this position. If you haven’t been trained to do so, please join us this evening, it’s not an intense training by any means. All training will be provided and it’s a relatively easy position, we just need you to complete the training first. If you have completed this training in years past, it’s required to renew your training every 3 years.

For returning families, one callout in heading into the volunteer signups this evening which are programed to open at 8pm sharp. There’s been a shift of volunteer positions from years past. You’ll still be required to sign up for 5 shifts, however in an effort to make your lives easier and make the meets stronger we’ve adjusted the positions:

Bullpen Lead- Added position for this year. This position will be the lead at the bullpen and assist the other volunteers to ensure all swimmers are accounted for in each event and are in the proper lane.

Ribbon Table- Positions have been eliminated and will be completed by students needing service hours.

Data Table- We reserved two families, who have gained to be experts at the table, to complete the data table so that won’t be an option to sign up for this year.

Each family has the ability to sign up for one (1) Reserve spot. Each family also has the ability to sign up for one (1) floater position. The floater position will be utilized to assist in giving breaks, filling in key areas of the meet at key times, or fulfilling a role in which a volunteer doesn’t show. The Reserve position will be utilized if another volunteer does not show and will be called upon if the floater is already completing another task and we need to pull another volunteer in. If everyone shows, the volunteer with the reserve spot can simply relax in the stands. You may sign up for one each, one for the floater and one for the reserve position. If a family signs up for more than one floater position or more than one reserve position, those positions will be deleted and the family will have to select another position to fulfil the 5 volunteer shifts.

In doing this modification this will benefit each family in overall lowering the total number of volunteer shifts as we hope most families won’t have to be utilized in a reserve spot or much as a floater. This also positions the meet to run smoother with having a bench to easily pull from instead of trying to fill a position last minute. If you don’t show up for your shift and we have to use the floater and/or reserve position the volunteer who doesn’t show will still have to make up their unfulfilled position.
